Slip casting is a very different process than handbuilding ceramic technique. Above all, it allows you to unleash your imagination in terms of decoration and painting. At the same time, you can leave the products clean in the beauty of their minimalist shape.

COURSE CONCEPT

The process of slip casting ceramics into plaster molds has its specifics, individual technological phases and nothing can be rushed.

Therefore, I designed this course for a period of 4 weeks, where we go through one phase of the process each week.

 

POSSIBILITIES OF CREATION TO BE ADAPTED DURING THE COURSE

• You will learn the basic rules of the slip casting process  (it is completely different from modeling ceramics)

• You will be able to cast a set of 6 ceramic pieces (4x cup, 2x bowl) + 1x surprise

 

• In the 1st week we will learn what slip casting is and make a few pieces.

       There will be plaster molds for cups of two sizes and a bowl suitable for soup, noodles or morning muesli.

• In the 2nd week we will clean already casted pieces and at the same time make more.

• In the 3rd week we will focus on decoration - as a painting with cobalt and iron and make some structures.

• In the 4th week we will be glazing all these pieces.

• Shellac painting and subsequent washing - the creation of plastic decor

• Earthenware slip

LEVEL

The course is suitable for participants of all levels, whether you would like to try this technique or add some products to your cupboard without the stress that you will have to invent product shapes and will not be satisfied with the result.

BRING YOURSELF

• An apron or an old T-shirt that doesn't matter if it get dirty or destroyed and in this case I also recommend pants or leggings :).
